THE MAKINGS OF A MAKER:
A self-taught, mixed-media artist and musician out of Queens, New York, founder, designer and artisan, Jae “JQ” Breslow has been involved in the arts through the organization “SEA of Visibility” and featured in exhibitions such as “Born This Way”and “MOSAIC,” supporting LGBTQ+ and mental health awareness in the arts.
Then the pandemic hit. The COVID-19 isolation created an opportunity out of crisis.
The shutdown forced him to find a way to use this time and energy in a healthy way. After becoming introduced to the art of chainmaille [also written as chainmail] during the height of isolation, he found an art-form that might otherwise never presented itself.
With fashion already being a big part of his self-expression (influencing the nickname “JQ”), he found a way to apply these uniquely personal accessories to his own wardrobe – a choice that changed the trajectory of his creativity.
Over the years since, his passion for the craft, for challenging himself to push the boundaries of both chainmaille and fine jewelry continues to evolve. Each new design drives him to seek out, learn and hone more techniques. Most notable are his high jewelry concepts, which tap into the seemingly-limitless sources of inspirations found in nature.
COROSÈNA is the combination of creative expression and high fashion, luxury jewelry, bringing to life each piece entirely by hand and putting genuinely personal, healing energy and satisfaction into his finished work.

“COROSÈNA is the culmination of many facets of my personality; creativity, attention to detail and an interest in fashion, alongside a way to positively affect my mental health. The COVID-19 shutdown impacted my life in a jarring way. As a result, my previously go-to forms of creative expression were hindered by the emotional toll.
I discovered that the meditative act of weaving each ring together didn’t require abstract thought, yet still yielded a very tangible, self-validating feeling of accomplishment.
The finished work is a piece of art that I can hold in my hand, feeling genuinely satisfied. I wear them proudly as accessories to my own wardrobe & I am equally proud that others enjoy wearing them as well.”
“Every aspect of the creative process, from the inspiration to the finished piece is important to me.
The majority of my concepts are brought out by meticulously weaving together individual, wire-formed rings of varying sizes and metals, until they form a particular pattern; these patterns are then worked into components created using traditional fabrication techniques most often seen in fine jewelry
Through my hands-on process, I immerse myself in each project. I put my passion for art and genuine human connection through creativity into something tangible and really make it special. I meticulously weave together individual, wire-formed rings of varying sizes and metals, until they form a particular pattern and design.”
